Left Coast Fishing Trip, Part One
Posted by brewer998 in Drinking, News, Reckless Irresponsibility on April 20, 2010

It is official. I will have a vacation this year. No, it will not be a staycation, that damnable indicator of the decline of the American middle class, but rather a real live vacation out West.
Follow us on Twitter
Yes, we know it sucks. Yes, it is annoying to get 140 character status updates every 30 seconds. But you should know we don’t update the site every 30 seconds and when we post drivel here it is only the highest quality. So follow us, become a legion of mindless drones hell bent on self destruction and drooling voyeurism. Or just have something to do on your phone while you wait in line at the store.
The Death Knell

Ok folks…
Here’s a place for all of your cVillain vitriol. With the new owner forgetting basics like ‘how Gateway IP’s work’ and other basic blog etiquette, I’m just over it.
However, I’m going to pull a Thor here. I don’t really want the general distaste for the new owner to become a focus point for txtnly. I’m not asking you to stop your bitching, because I still get a laugh out of it. I just don’t want it overrunning the rest of the blog.

We didn’t exactly get the 60 inches of snow that word around town may have led you to expect. In fact, we only got about 28″ over the course of the two day super-mega-blizzard-that-happens-every-60-years storm. That 2+ feet was just plenty to knock out power to over 13,000 people; and many of those are still without power. I have been extremely fortunate to have maintained power throughout the entire ordeal and my mobility wasn’t really limited due to the awesomeness that is a Jeep. I spent most of the snowy weekend sledding, playing snowtaxi, more sledding, drinking, even more sledding, and going to the bar. In all of that time on the road, I’ve noticed that there aren’t nearly as many cars abandoned in ditches and roadways. A lot of folks seem to have learned a lesson from the mid-December storm. I certainly haven’t. I’m real dumb. I love driving in this stuff. When else can I do 360’s down Garrett St and have a passable excuse?
Secretly Y’all….
A friend of mine has contacted me about her new blog and a pretty interesting event to go with it.
You’ll find the blog at http://secretlyall.wordpress.com/
We’re also keeping it linked in our blogroll on the right sidebar.
To steal the mission statement from her blog:
Secretly Y’all is committed to bringing people together through the art of storytelling. We believe that while our differences make life flavorful, similarity of experience and the ability to share these connect all people. We realize storytelling exists beyond the traditional oral culture within a variety of media including, but not limited to, poetry, music, and performance and are open to other effective means of communication. Our primary goal is to support everyone who has a story to tell, from the most seasoned of performers to a first time sharer.
The thing that I’m most excited about is their first public storytelling event. The details can all be found in the poster above. These are supposed to be true stories, so I’m sure there will certainly be plenty of self-humiliation involved. The theme for this kickoff week is ‘Touched by a Crazy’. This crazy can be yourself, a friend, an ex, family, or a random acquaintance.
There’s plenty more info over on her site, so please check it before the event if you plan to attend. I’ll be there!
