The girls from Secretly Y’all are back to melt some faces with hilarity and self-deprecation. The details are the same as always: Random Row Books, Sunday, April 18th, 7PM, $5 suggested donation. These events are getting bigger and better every single time. I’m not recommending that you bring a folding chair this time. I’m telling you to bring two. Without fail there are people standing or sitting on the concrete floor at every show. I don’t know about you, but I don’t drink a whole bunch before things like this just so I can stand up for two hours and lose my buzz. Bring extra chairs. My state of intoxication may depend on you. The weather outside is gorgeous again. You should have several folding chairs in the back of your car just for impromptu white trash tailgates. There is no excuse.
I don’t have anything planned for this event, but I believe that B Yo might. That’s at least one guaranteed awesome story for the night.
Other notes: Umm… drinks beforehand… possibly at West Main.. possibly at Zinc. We’ll try to let you know.
DO NOT PARK IN THE PAVED LOT BEHIND WEST MAIN RESTAURANT!!!!!*
*I got towed from there recently… It’s not actually the lot for W. Main, the restaurant. The whole situation is ridiculous. Collier’s towing sucks.

I’m putting my name in the hat. Hope I get picked!
#2 by belmont, yo on April 14, 2010 - 2:00 pm
Im in the hat for this one, but my shit aint up to snuff this time around, seeing as I wrote it in 1988 – granted I was quite literally tripping balls. Short and weird.
Next month though, I fitna bring it.

I wish it were just a wee bit later. How long does this thang usually run?
#4 by Donk on April 14, 2010 - 2:27 pm
It’s usually over at about 9-9:30.
#5 by Doc on April 14, 2010 - 2:54 pm
Sthere a theme for this one yet?
#6 by Donk on April 14, 2010 - 3:01 pm
Oops.. I left that out.
The theme for this one is ‘In Your Own Words’. So, they’re encouraging folks to dig through old journals, shoe boxes, and school writing assignments. I expect that things are gonna get reaaaal awkward.

Next month (if you want to start writing now) is ‘tales of your weird family’, though Im not sure how it will be phrased.
#8 by Mz Fitz on April 14, 2010 - 3:44 pm
Gahhhh! It always conflicts with other awesome plans!
#9 by Loki on April 14, 2010 - 3:46 pm
I think it’s on purpose! Someone there knows my schedule and doesn’t want me to show up. “Oh Loki is probably going to see Against Me! we should do it that Sunday.” Lemme guess the next one is May 1, right? And then there’s another in the middle of June? Fuck.
#10 by belmont, yo on April 14, 2010 - 4:04 pm
Its actually pretty regular, and easy to plan around. It always falls on a sunday in the middle of the month that ends in “teen”, which is usually only one or two sundays per month. If there are two, its usually the latter. Usually.
Ok, so its not easy like easter or something, but it aint no Davinci Code. Aaand its easily one of the most original recurring events in this little hamlet.
#11 by Floozy on April 14, 2010 - 4:36 pm
What if it is usually but not always the second Sunday that falls in the middle, but instead of the latter or the former it’s the one in the middle of the three on the rare but not completely impossible event that there are three Sundays?
#12 by brewer998 on April 15, 2010 - 9:34 am
@10, 11 – I propose they switch the scheduling for Secretly Y’all to the metric system.
#13 by belmont, yo on April 15, 2010 - 9:49 am
@11 Exactly.
#14 by Mz Fitz on April 15, 2010 - 10:21 am
Loki, at least May 1 and June 19 are Saturdays. Nursing a hangover in a lawn chair while listening to stories is totally doable…
#15 by Mz Fitz on April 15, 2010 - 10:21 am
@12, agreed.
#16 by shenanigans on April 15, 2010 - 1:00 pm
I got added to the lineup! Come listen to me read from my journal from when I lived in France circa Y2K. I talk about thrilling things like how tight French boys jeans are and how there’s no ranch dressing at the store.
#17 by Floozy on April 15, 2010 - 9:31 pm
@16 What about groundhog pie stories??
#18 by shenanigans on April 16, 2010 - 9:38 am
@17: I will save that for the Family Tales one.
#19 by secretlyall on April 16, 2010 - 12:23 pm
B yo has got it about right. Here’s how we make our decision: we’re looking for the Sunday that
1. is in the teens
2. will give us at minium 4 weeks between events.
So if its in the teens but only 3 weeks from the last event, we go with the next Sunday.
We also just try to piss people off. We love getting email from people we have pissed off. And stopped on the street. That’s the best.
#20 by Donk on April 16, 2010 - 12:41 pm
Word on the street is that there are going to be popsicles at the event. That sounds awesome. It sounds less awesome that it will only be about 50 degrees outside.
You know what’s useful for making you feel warm? Sneaking alcohol into the event in the form of a non-alcoholic drink container. Also, everybody knows that it’s more fun to drink alcohol on the sly. That’s why prohibition was so popular.
#21 by Floozy on April 16, 2010 - 8:56 pm
OMG I want to complain about being pissed off so bad… I don’t know what I’m going to be pissed off about, but I am really into advance preparation,
Please send me an email. P.O box (pissed off box) or any other communication medium through which I can express my vitriol …about something that hasn’t happened yet. Fuck yeah.
#22 by shenanigans on April 19, 2010 - 10:15 am
Um, Secretly Y’all was awesome. That is all.
#23 by belmont, yo on April 19, 2010 - 11:28 am
Easily one to the best SY’s to date.
I haven’t laughed so hard in a while.

byo and shen–your stories are *still* cracking me up.
if either of you feel like scanning and sending me photos of the actual pages you read from, we’ll post them on the site for all to enjoy.
